Hulu is Producing a Far Cry TV Series from the Creators of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The latest action-packed title that players explored was Far Cry 6, that showcased Giancarlo Esposito as the bad guy, Antón, and came out back in October 6, 2021. As a series, it is known for celebrating violence and madness with similar excitement, all while weaving captivating, politically driven tales. No wonder then that the network’s decision for a Far Cry seasonal program attracted two creators whose projects have exemplified all of those qualities.

Show Details

Based on Ubisoft's hit video game series, the limited anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The series will also mirror the video games' structure by having a different backdrop and cast of characters in every instalment.

Creative Minds

Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as showrunners on the series via their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

We’ve shared magnificent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is fresh, engrossing, and wildly entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our collaborators at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this popular property.”

What’s Next

Mac will also star in the show, but as of now, we do not know what role that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just approved for another season, with FX and Disney signing a new overall deal with the creator.

“Being able to collaborate with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly supportive, trusting us with one of the most renowned video-game realms ever created. And along the way, my FX family continues to lift me up with their steady confidence and support.”

“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an standalone program. Every instalment is a take of a theme, the same way each season of Fargo is a variation on a premise,” said Hawley. “To develop a large-scale action show that can change from one instalment to the next, while always examining the nature of humanity through this complex and unpredictable viewpoint, is a dream come true. I’m excited to collaborate with Rob and introduce our common unconventional, visionary approach to the audience.”

A time frame for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
